Issue 5 of The Fangirl Guide: Gaming

Hi everyone!

So today I'm going to introduce you to a few games, and game series. I will also direct you to any blogs, guides and YouTubers I like or find helpful. As you know from the gaming week introduction, I have been gaming for quite a few years, and still do today. I understand that some bookaholics may be against gaming, and are strictly book-fans only, but I see the benefits as a hobby and even in education.

I am going to start with Minecraft.

Minecraft is a very enjoyable and diverse open world/sandbox/combat/pve/pvp/survival/creative game for all ages and both genders. I find many people find it so fun as there really is so many things to do on it. Single-player worlds can be just as fun as playing with other people on servers, and creative building can be just as fun as trying to survive.

There really is something for everyone, from building a castle to trying to battle against monsters or each other. Also, the Minecraft community is generally great and friendly, and very big. Here's a few links to start you on your Minecraft journey:

Next, Animal Crossing. Clearly, I am biased on this one as the Animal Crossing series played such a big part in my childhood. There are many different AC games on many Nintendo platforms, with Animal Crossing: New Leaf being the most recent game in the series. Basically, in Animal Crossing, you play as a girl or boy who lands in a town full of animals. You live there and make friends, expand your house, meet other players (optional), shop, sell things and basically live as you would in real life but at a steadier pace. I feel AC is a great way to escape real life into a virtual reality, as it can be very calm and relaxing.

Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V is an open world, action adventure game for PC, Playstation and Xbox. Many people think it's just a FPS (first person shooter), and if you think that you are partly right. According to my boyfriend, you will need to shoot people in order to complete the game and get to the open world section, but if you have a boyfriend to complete this bit for you, I think Grand Theft Auto is actually pretty universal for different types of gamers.
